They Say It's A Man's World
Isn't it funny how no man likes seeing a woman in his family hurt by a man. Yet, many will hurt so many other women....Just something to think about!

Beginning with Children Foundation Gala Event
Anyways, last week I was invited to a gala to celebrate something that has influenced me to be the young woman I am today. The gala was for the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Beginning with Children Foundation and the founders, Joe and Carol Reich.
Wow!!! Beginning with Children has come a long way, but I can't forget one of my mentors and the woman who helped kept the foundation of B.W.C together, Sonia Oritz-Gulardo. She has done so much for me and many of the students of B.W.C. She was my first principal who told me when I was wrong, but she was also one of the first individuals to see something in me. I remember I had a conflict that needed to be discussed in the principal's office, which was her office. I spoke and expressed myself so well about the situation, and I knew this because Ms. G (as we call her) expressed this to me. It was good hearing this from someone who knew me as a shy little girl who have watched me grow into a more outspoken young girl. Haha, now those who know me today know I am very outspoken!
Overall, this event brought back so many memories that I had to try my best to hold back so many tears, especially when Ms. G shed a few tears as she shared a wonderful speech about B.W.C with us.

QiQi's Corner: Wonder Why Brandy's Daughter is Not On Current Reality Show?
Well after doing some research or googling...I found the answer! Brandy supposedly does not want her daughter to be in the public eye or cameras anywhere near her daughter. She explains in details to Parade Magazine:
I guess that explains it all......'"That’s strictly because her father and I felt it was best for her to have as much of a normal life as possible. Of course, you’ve seen her on one episode on ‘For the Love of Ray J,’ but it wasn’t every day. You didn’t see her going to school, me combing her hair, or any aspect of our private, intimate moments, which sort of sucks because our relationship is so beautiful. I love being a mom and I’m raising her in a different way than how I was raised. Some things that my mom did with me, I do with my daughter — it’s just a different dynamic. I would love for people to see how I’m doing it because I think I could be a good example of a young, single mom.
A lot of mothers feel like they’re the mom first, with that authority. But for me, I’m a friend first. I believe that just being there for my daughter as a friend more than ‘I’m in charge…’ causes her to be more open with me as a person. That’s just what our relationship is. Of course, there are times when I have to discipline her — I’m mom. But there’s still that nurturing and love there that we have. I know I’ll probably get flack for being a friend first, but it really works. She’s really honest with me. I’m just teaching her how to trust herself. I tell her all the time that my life is not your life — you have your own life.
At the end of the day we’re going to be friends. When she grows up, it’ll be about that friendship that we’ll have. She’ll come to me for any problems that she has. If I have an authoritative wall up, she’s going to rebel and not come to me and I don’t want that.”

AssataSays Private Networking Event
Being a friend of Assata's I knew the hard-work she had put towards this event, as well as how nervous she was about launching this event. As I told Assata during the preparation of this event, along with what I told her after the event was simply these words: "Don't worry....It will be fine!" When in reality it was more than fine because the event was a success!
The event was held at Polish Bar at the Brooklyn’s Prospect Heights location. It was a room full of a few industry career women mingling and networking with young Ambitious Ones over manicures & pedicures. There was also some great wine and finger food offered to the guest. Let me not forget, there was also great goodie bags at the end like every successful event should have!
The best advice I think I took from this event was from a future Planner with Macy's and part of her advice was: "Speak good things into your life and continue to keep your faith in God with your dreams." I come to realize when you really have a deep conversation with someone and how they got somewhere in life dealing with their success it will usually come down to one thing....their faith in God.

QiQi's Corner: Kid Cudi Arrested--Not So Much A Pursuit To Happiness
As I SMH, I realize this wasn't the first time this talented man been in trouble with the law. Kid Cudi was arrested last year in Los Angeles, but everything came out as a mistaken identity issue. Well before that issue, he also punched a fan who happened to be nice enough to not press charges on him.
Ummmm....I think we need more music Mr. Cudi, so can you stay out of trouble and make that happen. Thank you.

QiQi's Corner: A Mix of Drama in the Spotlight
So apparently, the new/alter tattoo is no longer Kelis face, but a lion's head that was once Kelis head. Ha, do you guys remember when 50 diss Nas about this tattoo???? Well he did! On the "Piggy Bank" track, which he states "Kelis said her milkshake bring all the boys to the yard...Then Nas went and tattooed the b*tch on his arm." Yup, the things we do when we are in love and the things we do when we fall out.
Moving on.....
As for those pregnancy rumors about Lamar Odom and Khole Kardashian having a baby= FALSE. According to Khole, "No, I'm just fat." I love her sarcasm!
Ready for this.....

Mood: Carefree mix with a go-getter spirit---just one of them nights
Hmmmm....yea, tonight is Friday and I decided to stay in. I like to have dates with myself, as weird as that may sound...I like to just have some alone time. I mean I have my space to be alone most of the time, but I like to do things on my "Me Nights." For example, I like to write, listen to music, and even do little things like give myself a mani & pedi. I believe time to yourself gives you the opportunity to explore your ideas and thoughts, but most importantly you learn more about who you are by exploring within.
I figure this will be a Life post because I learned some valuable life lessons this week; I don't know where to begin. Well first, I must just say I am BLESSED for the family and friends I do have. When I was younger and even now, I always had this big guard up from people (this meant family and friends) because I just always felt the potential of betrayal they can do to you. Well as I have grown I have come to realize that's the price you pay to find the good people that should be in your life.
Another great lesson I have learned this week is about FORGIVENESS. Boy, isn't that word powerful? I mean we all say we may forgive someone, but do we really? I recently have witness someone in my life who haven't said the words "I forgive," but from their actions it is clear they forgiven someone who caused a great amount of damage in their lives. Honestly, I have witness another close person in my life who forgiven someone as well who has hurt them. What I come to realize although they say God forgive us all the time for our sins and wrongdoings, so we should forgive others is not the only reason why we should forgive.......
We should forgive because forgiveness is not only for the person who hurts us, but it is for us! When you TRULY forgive you are no longer the victim or holding on to some baggage that has been holding you down. Recently, a friend said to me "...maybe you don't hate me," in which I kind of chuckle to myself thinking Thank God I don't hate you. What I meant by that is thank God I don't hate them because if I did I would be a miserable person, the bitter young girl I used to be, and just another individual holding on to some baggage I don't need. So, on that note just forgive because it's a benefit you give to yourself.
